Brit? Paris? Nope... this time it's Nashua!

The latest tabloid journalistic scuffle was not Brit or Lindsey or Paris, but rather involving Barack Obama. As reported yesterday:
But it was after Obama's speech that O'Reilly threw some elbows. And not so figuratively either.

Obama staffer Marvin Nicholson, a personal aide always at Obama's side during rope line handshakes, said O'Reilly yelled at him to get out of the way of his cameraman's shot. Nicholson said O'Reilly came around the waist-high barricade separating Obama from well-wishers.

"Then he grabbed me with both of his arms and tried to push me out of the way," Nicholson said after the campaign agreed to make him available to reporters.

O'Reilly, interviewed afterward by phone on Fox News, said he tried "to gently remove" Nicholson because he was standing in front of Fox's camera.

"We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen," O'Reilly said.

Now I may be snarkily calling Billo a tabloid journalist, but this man is on a news network, he considers himself to be a journalist. He has an audience, albeit a shrinking one, but an audience nonetheless. I am used to seeing this behavior from the paparazzi, and places like OK! magazine, but this just goes too far.

It was a double-header debate held in New Hampshire last night. And the secret word, in case you missed it was: CHANGE. Seems to be the buzz word of the day thanks to the decisive Barack Obama win in Iowa. First at bat, the republicans, I missed the first half-hour of them due to birthday celebrations with my wife, but I rather doubt I missed much.

Here is Velveeta’s report:
Boy, is Mitt Romney disliked! Even though he is not the leader (currently) the girls had their claws out on him. Mike Huckabee even got in a 2-circle-snap comeback to Mitt regarding his constant flip-flopping.
“I also supported the troop surge," Romney said, "Don't try to mischaracterize my position."
"Which one?" Huckabee shot back

Even John McCain jumped into the fray with a not-so veiled barb at Mitt, “I just want to say to Gov. Romney, we disagree on a lot of issues, but I agree you are the candidate of change," (Good one John).

Libertarian Saturday

Good Morning!

I've got a double this morning from Lew Rockwell.com.

Let's start with the horse races....if you live in a major state, you've got a primary election coming up sometime in the next 30 days, and probably no later than the next 60 days. Is everyone paying attention? We here at Four Freedoms have endorsed John Edwards, and of course we are open to any candidates anyone else wants to support.

As the 'token libertarian' in these parts (and a left-leaning one at that), I have been keeping an eye on the most Libertarian candidate of them all, a certain Republican congressman from Texas. In really paying attention to the campaign this year, I've also discovered that maybe I'm not as Libertarian as I used to think. After his stance on the war....many of his policies are just way to scary to even ponder.

Iowa Huckabee

... or at least the Republicans there do. He won a decisive victory in the Republican caucus, sending Romney off to nurse his wounds. Thompson finished a surprising 3rd. Guiliani didn't even register on the scale. It was a result few would have predicted several months ago when Guiliani was the assumed candidate (with an endorsement from Pat Robertson), when Thompson got Rove's minions working for him, when Romney supposedly got the endorsement from the Southern Baptists (although that was later qualified as not).

The Democratic caucus results were less surprising, ending in essentially a 3-way tie, with Obama slightly ahead. Edwards came in second, and Hillary finished third (perhaps the only real surprise here). The other candidates barely registered at all. Sadly, the results prompted both Dodd and Biden to bow out of the race. Because of this, we have removed the Dodd link from our ad/endorsement strip.

And... They're off!

Today is caucus day in Iowa. It's going to be cold but it doesn't look like the weather will be a reason not to turn out. That is good news. Seems like many students are going back to campus early so they can caucus. That could be very good news for Obama, since he is said to be popular among the college crowd. It also makes for a rather undecided race.

Bill Richardson is set to throw his support toward Obama. Just like Dennis, this is in case he finds himself not getting the 15% of the vote. So that is that. With Bill, I am not surprised at this move. Dennis tho, that one is going to take some time for it to sink and and digest.

The Losey Awards

After tonite, 2007 will be just a memory. It is hard to believe that this is the end of this calendar. Time to start a new one.

We have a lot to do in 2008. I myself will be actively participating in getting a democrat elected to office. But before we say goodbye to this year. I would like to give you my list of the biggest dolt's and loser's of the year.

The Finalists:

Alberto Gonzales: For doing nothing in the justice department that could even be considered legal, and instead using the department as George Bush's secretary pool. The man should still go to jail for what he did.

Larry Craig: Entertaining, but still, I mean, come one... He is the leader of turning the GOP in the Gay Old Party. Larry led the charge of so many gay sex scandals this year, including State Rep. Bob Allen, State Rep Richard Curtis, GOP county Chair Green bay Wisconsin, Donald Fleischman, and Glenn Murphy Jr, National Chairman of the Young Republicans

George Bush: for treating the entire world like a bunch of idiots. Oh wait, I guess he is just talking to us the best way he can. Also for not reading the Constitution. Oh and for lying about Iran. And for lying about Iraq. And for lying about FISA, and awww, hell... it is a new year... I will take it easy on him for this one day. At least he got rid of Turblossom, aka, the Vote Cager...

The 25% of people who still support George Bush: Sorry friends. But I think these people would support him if HE ran a dog fighting ring. All he'd have to do is call it waterboarding.

Michael Vick: For throwing everything away. What a waste. Maybe he should have used the waterboarding defense. He could have had those 25% of bush supporter's on his side.

Un-Impeach!!!

Warning: the following commentary may contain sarcasm.

According to my backwards bush clock, we must still suffer another 386 days with this “administration”. I use quotes because I really believe this group of people more closely resembles a mafia. I never watched that hit show, The Soprano’s, but I’ve seen the Godfather I and II and one of my favorite films is GoodFella’s. I just adore that scene in the diner with DeNiro and Liotta and that nifty camera trick where they dolly back while focusing in on the table. But I digress…

In my opinion what we have is a Texas Mafia. Stolen elections to secure their “turf”, which happens to be our country; hiring of their own wise guys and hitmen; protecting their own by whatever means possible; and raking in a ton of dough for all their friends and investors.

So, how come we can’t seem to impeach these guys? It seemed so easy with Bill Clinton. One day a vague story about an intern showing her panties off – the next day…WHAM! Impeachment! (It may have taken longer, but I was in the midst of getting clean and sober so time was irrelevant to me).
