Film Friday
Author: wickedpam    Date: 04/21/2017 13:26:42

This week while flipping around looking for something to watch I stumbled upon 1776. I love this movie. I remember getting to watch it in school, for the Bicentennial I believe. It was a movie that I think had a big impact on me and the political view of the world I would grow to have. Sure its a sappy, over simplified, sugary view of the founding of this country but still it hit on everything that is amazing about this country.

I'm with Franklin, the national bird should have been the turkey

Another movie that had an impact on me was Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

I mean how can a person not be impacted by that movie? Standing up and speaking out for those who can't is the most patriotic thing I can think of.

Honestly I think they need to show these movies in school again, though since they are old I only hope that kids could connect with the message the same way.

There are loads of political movies out there with positive message, what are some of your go-to's?

Good morning, bloggers!!

The fluffy bunny is indeed cute.

As for movies, I like the American President and 10 Days in October. I shudder to think what President Trump Agent Orange would have done during the Cuban missile crisis.

Steph, I love Kid Rock too -- shot by a cannon into a huge pool at a sewer treatment plant.

A friend on Facebook posted an article linking to a study that shows America is regressing to a Third World nation for most of our citizens.

I have seen many impoverished neighborhoods in Chicago, Phoenix and Northwest Indiana. Many people are losing hope.

Mala, great topic.

My favorite political movies in no order are:

Dr. Strangelove. Scathing satire.
Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 from the BBC's "The Hollow Crown" Young Hal goes from being feckless youth to learning how to rule fairly and justly.
The Godfather. Not about politics, per se, but there is a lot that can be used as political tactics, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" comes to mind.
The Manchurian Candidate. The Sinatra one, not the Denzel remake. Who doesn't love cold war paranoia?

Greetings, everyone. It's been that kind of week for me. Went back to AMC as a temp this Tuesday and did two shifts this week. Next week, I will be in Vegas at NAB. Today, it's getting my stuff packed, putting the mail on hold, and cleaning up the living room a little bit before I leave. It will be nice to get away and hopefully I will have some good luck networking while I am there, and that it leads to some good job prospects. Then I have a chill weekend, and it's back to work on May 1st.

Sounds like it should be a fun TUTN tonight seeing the party at the Bob and Raine house. Hopefully, I will be able to make it down for the summer gathering.

Hi all. After an arduous FIVE HOURS getting my medical and finishing my testing, I am finally the proud owner of a CDL Permit.

The plan is to be behind the wheel out at the driving course on Monday - I shall avoid all ditches to the best of my ability.
