I forgot to never forget.
Author: Raine    Date: 09/11/2017 13:08:43

I literally woke up this morning not realizing what day it was.

And then I got online and saw many many 'never forget' posts.

So I remembered. So here we are 16 years later and all I have is this, I didn't forget. It's not that I don't care. It's actually that I care more than ever before for our country, what it is supposed to stand for and where it is going.

16 years ago, we were attacked from outside. Now we face fascism within our borders. 16 years ago the biggest hurricane was Andrew. 16 years ago we didn't have the west coast on fire while the southern and eastern coasts of this nation were drowning.

16 years ago we didn't have Katrina, Ike, Wilma, Sandy, Harvey and Irma in our history.

16 years ago there were not open Nazi Marches in our cities.

16 years ago we were not openly cheering to marginalize other in the United States.

16 years ago the occupant of the White house was a bumbling grifter looked upon as a joke.

Now, 16 years that that bumbling grifter will be on the hallowed ground in New York City.

I haven't forgotten that the worst of us is trying to tear apart the best of us. I am quite somber today, but not because of the attacks 16 years ago, I am somber because I remember what the promise of this nation was supposed to be and I am wondering how we can return to that promise.

Peace and Love,

Raine

The further 9/11 gets in the rearview mirror, the less important it seems. Yes, we were attacked, yes people died. I agree - the dangers we face from within are much larger.

Mornin' all..

Also today is a reminder - we are still being attacked, from within and abroad. Not all attacks cause bloodshed.

I'm sorry, I just learned that 45 did not go to NYC and instead was at the Pentagon.

That is hallowed ground as well, IMO.

Its to public and they don't like him there. Think the Pentagon Memorial is more private(?).

Seems there's some kind of Secret Service action on the north side of the WH.

Raine, I'm with you today. No offence intended, but I'm fucking tired of having 9/11 rammed down my throat every year.

A friend of mine walked out of the North Tower alive - shouldn't that be enough to remember?

Remember 9/11
Remember the Alamo
Remember Pearl Harbor
Confederate flags

Why are we obsessed with remembering all the times America was on the losing end?

Good question.

I would prefer to remember the day we elected Barack Obama.

For the last 2 days, DirecTV was running a channel simulcasting the local news coverage from Florida. It would switch around between stations in Miami, West Palm Beach, Tampa, and Orlando. They way they would jump from one channel to another's coverage had kind of a whiplash effect, but it was interesting seeing how it was being covered on the local level.

We watched some of WINK's coverage. It was pretty interesting, but definitely local-focused
