Ain't nothing but a grift.

I actually went to sleep very early yesterday as the exhaustion of the holidays, this administration, and other factors crept up on me. I actually slept a solid 10.5 hours! Anyway, I digress.

I was of mixed feeling about any of the networks airing his little word salad. It's the Office of the President after all. That said - he's not a legitimate president.

When I woke up this morning, Jot Reid posted this image. (note the time)

He used the Oval Office office as a campaign event. I had suspected this was what would happen and I sadly was not let down. Nothing new was said, nothing new was proposed. Federal workers are still not getting paid. Federal loans are not being approved. Small businesses are suffering. Some will shutter forever.

The country is being held hostage by a tyrannical lunatic who is having a temper tantrum over a situation created in his mind that his followers want to believe. The media - again - fell for the antics of that greedy, grifting carnival barker. I'm with Erik Wimple of WaPo.

And Post fact-checkers dinged Trump for mis-portraying migrant children brought into the United States.

This fact-checking fervor overtook broadcast and cable TV channels as well as other media — just as predicted. Trump faced a choice when it came to his agenda on Tuesday night: Either stick to appropriately contextualized facts, or stir up paranoia about a border crisis. He couldn’t do both at the same time.

Now it’s up to the country’s media to clean up the mess.

I'm also with Senator Hirono on this.
On Tuesday, frustrated at the piddling, dilatory response to the charges against Kavanaugh, Hirono said this:

“Guess who’s perpetuating all of these kinds of actions? It’s the men in this country. I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.”

Then, on Thursday, responding to Republican assertions that they were doing all they could to accommodate Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, and that they were taking her charges seriously, Hirono said this to ABC News:

“We’re not consulted at all. I would like to have us come together and figure out what is the best way to proceed. Not this seat of the pants stuff, and the latest being a letter from the chairman to the Democrats saying we have done everything we can to contact her—that is such bullshit I can hardly stand it."
