Are we here again?

Good Morning.

I'm pretty sure most of us on this blog lived through the 80s. A disastrous pandemic swept through a narrow subset of society those four decades ago now. Remember this?

Fever Friday?
Author: wickedpam    Date: 02/28/2020 14:13:30

Feel like pop culture has been warning and preparing us for these pandemics for years. Think my whole bend toward scifi and fantasy was because Poe's Masque of the Red Death was horrifying, mysterious, and elegant. How could a story about a masquerade ball in a castle to lock out the plague not intrigue a kid? It also didn't hurt that on Saturday afternoons was the Creature Double Feature and would play movies like the Vincent Price adaptation.

The Storm Before the Storm
Author: BobR    Date: 02/26/2020 13:49:50

Last night was probably the last big debate for the Democrats. Sunday is the South Carolina primary, and the following Tuesday (one week from yesterday) is Super Tuesday, where voters in 16 states/territories cast their ballots. This was the last chance for the candidates to make an impression.

Things went mostly as expected. With Sanders being the current front-runner, he was the primary target for the other candidates:

Good morning.

OK, so it's later than usual on a Saturday. I've been skimming around the news, looking for something, anything, that we haven't beaten to death in recent weeks.

Pardon Me
Author: BobR    Date: 02/19/2020 14:25:45

During tRump's impeachment hearings, the main justification for his quid pro quo on aid to Ukraine was the Republican's insistence that tRump was trying to root out corruption, despite all evidence to the contrary. Yesterday, he further destroyed all notions of being "anti-corruption" when he pardoned 11 convicted criminals, all of whose crimes reflect a part of tRump's unsavory character: Edward DeBartolo, Jr., Michael Milken, Ariel Friedler, Bernard Kerik, Paul Pogue, David Safavian, and Angela Stanton.

In addition, President Trump signed Executive Grants of Clemency granting commutations to Rod Blagojevich, Tynice Nichole Hall, Crystal Munoz, and Judith Negron.

Some of these names are instantly recognizable; others are more obscure (although someone in the tRump "administration" knows who they are and likely lobbied on their behalf). Let's take a look...
