The political climate in DC right now could be described as hostile, turgid, contentious, and toxic. With tRump doing what he does best (generating conflict) in an already polarized partisan atmosphere, our entire government is in disarray.

It's somewhat of a metaphor for what our actual climate is like. Global warming has disrupted our weather systems, changing climates around the world, and not for the better. Here in DC we have had a warmer-than-normal February, which - while nice for those who hate the cold - is not so good for the plants.

President Trump has the best ideas; he'll be the first to tell you that. And he has at least 10 idea's to solve the gun mental health problem. But he's not going to tell you all his idea's because he wants to hear other idea's first. That's called being a "team player".

There's a saying we on the left have used in the past that goes: "You are entitled to your own opinions. You are not entitled to your own facts". The notion is that truth is absolute, despite one's political leanings. It seems like decades ago when TV news programs and newspapers reported facts, and that was what the general populace used to formulate their opinions. There were ideological differences as to what those facts meant, but everyone started with the same base set of information.

Sure, there were paranoid conspiracy peddlers, distributing leaflets looking like they were hastily printed in a college dorm, or broadcasting on late night AM stations. They were considered amusing entertainment by most.

That all seems so quaint.
