Good Morning.

Well, just about a week ago now, President Obama tried to channel President Roosevelt by having essentially a 'fireside chat' about our enemy of the week. But he unintentionally caused a little bit of a stir by referring to them as "ISIL".

They've gone by many names and acronyms since their inception...Islamic State, IS, ISIS, ISIL, and now the increasingly popular DAESH.

Good Morning.

I've got an awful lot of ground to cover today...but I suppose that you may have actually heard of most of it this week - a lot has been in the news recently.

But we'll start on the home front, right here in Waltham. This Saturday, there is a funeral procession through town for Sergeant Robert Dakin. Mr. Dakin's remains have spent the last 65 years MIA in Korea; he was recently recovered and is coming home. As your citywide Scouting coordinator, I was asked to get all the scouts in town to turn out and line the route. Unfortunately, I can't attend myself...but we've got a good commitment from all the units I'm associated with.

In the wake of yet another mass shooting, two actually, Congress steps up to make sure that we will own guns. Yessir all that sweet gun lobby money pays off, even if you're a potential terrorist; or, at least on the No-Fly list.

If you listen to the GOP rhetoric about mass shootings then you would have to presume that it's all about mental health. Not sure who should feel more offended by that - gun owners for being called mentally unwell or those with mental health issues being called violent mass killers. You know a lot of the time these mass shooters are just assholes with guns and never should have had one, let alone 10-30, to being with. Sometimes evil is just evil.
