Libertarian Saturday
Author: TriSec    Date: 10/04/2008 10:41:18

Good Morning!

I'm headed out for a romp in the woods this morning...curiously it's a company event! That's right...it's Athena's annual corporate retreat, our annual community service and teambuilding out in the woods in Welleseley. So....we'll take a brief look through the usual Libertarian haunts before I head out.

(Since I made Mrs. TriSec take this recently, won't everyone take another look at the world's smallest political quiz and tell us how you did? I'm still placing in the Libertarian quadrant, but much closer to left/liberal these days, mainly on economic issues...)

You might have heard that the House finally passed the bailout rescue bill yesterday, and the president quickly signed it into law. Of course the markets loved that, as the Dow closed down 157 points yesterday. Not everyone is happy about it, it seems. Leading that parade is Libertarian candidate Bob Barr...

St. Louis Vice

It seemed like some sort of drug-induced fever-dream... There was Fargo's Marge Gunderson tarted up and playing the part of Miss South Carolina... "Oh ya" or "Ooh Key" she'd say in response to a question, then meander off-course and into an answer to a question not asked. I kept looking for signs of intelligence behind those blank eyes, but came up empty. It was a nightmare!

Actually, no it was not a dream, unfortunately, but the VP debates last night.

VP Debate Blog..
Author: Raine    Date: 10/02/2008 23:58:20

Hey everyone! Just bout an hour to go and we will be watching the smackdown in the Gateway City. For our (hopefully) new members, I ask that you register, and after registration, you will see a comments link at the bottom of the blog. From there you will see a window where you can type things in and press the 'add a comment button' I promise, you will be very happy with this crew here.

But MOST important... We need to have game entertainment for the night.

I am suggesting that people try this game tonite, as it involves NO drinking unless you want it too. Debate Fight night Bingo Down.

Print out one for Sarah and one for Joe, (or 5 or 6 if you are a bingo person!) Yell bingo on the blog and EVERYONE drinks... In the meantime, just drink when you get to check a box off.

We have about an hour to go before the debate, don't forget to vote in the poll, and PLEASE, remember....

I can see you from my border. I am still as qualified as Sarah Palin, because I know more supreme court cases and I know what I read everyday. Go Ahead, ask me how 'Cherlie' and I'll git beck to ya...

:peace: and
Raine

Lost man in a lost campaign. Where in the world is John McCain?
Author: Raine    Date: 10/02/2008 12:23:51

At this point, Most of us are aware that the Senate passed a version of the Financial Rescue Bill. (I believe that is what the kids are calling it these days.) I am sure that we will hear more details about it today and tomorrow as it heads to the House for their review and vote.

Yesterday, I watched C-Span, and saw some amazing speeches from our fine Democratic Senators. I must admit I don't know much about the bill, but they certainly inspired me. Some details:

Limping off into the Darkness
Author: BobR    Date: 10/01/2008 12:34:21

The current economic meltdown and our government's seeming inability to agree on what to do about it has been dominating the news ever since the Paulson "plan" was released (along with the apparently incorrect dire warnings that we were just days away from slipping into the abyss). Close on its heels are the random bits demonstrating the McCain campaign's political hari-kari, and Palin's ignorant arrogance. Obama is hardly in the news anymore at all.

Also missing in action is pResident Bush.

Oh, he makes the occasional appearance, like the groundhog emerging from its burrow to let us all know we have 6 more weeks of winter. But the strutting cocky rancher is gone. In his place is a defeated deflated miserable man with a reverse Midas touch that has seen everything he's touched turn to shit. Even the pundits that once supported him have noticed:

As it's been reported in this space, the RNC is working hard to disenfranchise voters in many states via unscrupulous means. But when they cast their net, they also hauled in many veterans, some disabled and in VA hospitals. Is this what they were fighting for? IAVA has filed a brief in Ohio in an attempt to protect the voting rights of veterans.

Crisis in America!
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 09/28/2008 12:41:58

What a week! The ups and downs, fear, anxiety, emotional turmoil, and the constant wondering "what if it happens to me?" I know that the news has shaken ya'll just as well, its like our world is being ripped apart! HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN AMERICA? I speak, of course, of the fact that Clay Aiken is gay.

When did this happen? Everything seemed fine, and there has never been any signs, at least outwardly that he might be g-gay. (Sorry, this is still hard for me). From his first CD "Measure of a Man" to his most recent "On My Way Here" to his stint on Broadway in the musical "Spamalot"! There was never any indication.

Anyway, I still a bit thrown by this whole thing. I will attempt to carry on and report whatever news is out there. But really, is there anything more newsworthy?

There was a debate this week with our next President and John McCain where they talked an awful lot about the financial brouhaha that's currently going on. No real clear answers from either of them. In fact, I can't recall at the moment what they said.

Do you remember when Clay Aiken starred in and produced his first TV special (December 2004), titled A Clay Aiken Christmas, with special guests Barry Manilow, Yolanda Adams, and Megan Mullally; the special was later released on DVD. For Heaven's sake! He was in a Christmas special with Barry Manilow and Megan Mullally! Do you think they knew he was gay?
