There are few words
Author: Raine    Date: 09/11/2014 12:54:00

I wrote this 3 years ago. IT was not filled with anger or disillusionment. It was a heartfelt testament to the power of overcoming pain, finding friendship and love. And here we are, 13 years after that horrible day dealing with the blowback of horrible things done in reaction to that horrible day.

There is so much I can say, and so much that I have said.

I am angry and upset that we still have this mess buzzing around us like a swarm of locusts. This monstrosity overtaking Iraq and Syria -- this monstrosity was created from the lies we were told after the day the towers came down.

Some claim this is not ours to be concerned with, others claim we need to bomb more. I have deep concerns about this group.

It was the Bush Cheney war in Iraq that caused so many people to never trust the government when it came to matters of security both national and international. Bernie Sanders says it very well at his newsletter today:
nterviewed on MSNBC after the president’s speech, Sanders cited the Bush/Cheney war in Iraq as reason to be cautious about military ventures.

The Washington Post said Sanders is among seven senators who were in the House in 2002 and voted against the Iraq war. “We were ‘strong’ and ‘tough’ under Bush and Cheney. We made the worst foreign policy blunder in the history of the United States. We don’t want to do that again,”
He supports the actions the President laid out last night.

...and so it goes, the never-ending wartime.

Hi all. I wore a suit today to honour my old friend (south tower survivor) but have nothing else planned. My father's generation had Pearl Harbor and war, but now these places are our allies. One wonders if the Middle East will ever go down that road.

I have little hope for that.

Mornin' all..

Also on this day in American Imperialism, we helped overthrow Chile's democratically elected president and replace him with a murderous army general.

Ah -- lovely.

Sometimes I actually wish we could be isolationist just long enough to get our own house in order so we can be a beacon to the world.

YOu know, close up for serious renovations with a grand re-opening.

I know why. Israel. Not them specifically, but it comes down to this. Indigenous people have lived there for millenia. Out of nowhere, another group believes their God told them 'this is your promised land'. So they've been having this 'disagreement' for a while now. It's the old " my God is better than your God" argument that always seems to atract new converts, no matter what God it actually is. I almost think a new Isolationism might better serve our interests.

Comment by Raine on 09/11/2014 14:41:54
I swear what breaks my heart is that it seems as though this President is actually paying attention to the PDB and the warning provided by intelligence.

I am deeply concerned about a genocide. I remember marching to say out of Iraq into Darfur. IT meant nothing because the White house at the time was drooling for the war in IRaq.

and now I feel like we may very well be taking steps to prevent a possible genocide. ISIS is nasty, and I say that at a minimum.

But Israelis are also indigenous to that area - same as Palestinians (who are also not liked in that area) Never understood why those 2 didn't team up and work together *sigh*

The rivalries are deep, and there are harms done by both sides. The Palestinians can point to the Nakba and the Occupation. Israelis can point to some of the actions of the Arabs, such as attacks on civilians. I have a friend whose father's family lived in Egypt for 200 years before being expelled -- as they are Jewish. Part of that family moved to Chicago, while other parts are in Israel and elsewhere.

There are people working for peace, but there are politicians and others who benefit from continuing conflicts.

My point being:

Obama is acting more in line with the reasons that Clinton decided to act in Kosovo.

Oh hey, Somalia too. No one ever wants to talk about this either.

I have no apologies in saying that as much as I have hated military conflicts, I still believe Dems have always been on the right sight of this misery.

We are not there to fluff up the MIC. Obama is a Dem. Clinton was as well… Jimmy Carter was probably the most peaceful President we have ever had.

This is my favorite story of the week!

Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly, and it's something to hear when Sarah screams, "Don't you know who I am!"

“No, it’s what happens when the former First Family of Alaska comes knocking. As people were leaving in a cab, Track was seen on the street, shirtless, flipping people off, with Sarah right behind him, and Todd somewhere in the foreground, tending to his bloody nose,” she concluded.

It’s difficult to say how much of this is true, based as it is on what witnesses claim to have seen and heard.

In an update posted Thursday, Griffin said she spoke to homeowner Chris Olds, who confirmed that the melee took place in his residence and that he was repeatedly struck by Bristol Palin.

Anchorage Police confirmed to Griffin that at least 20 people were involved in the fight, but reports differ as to who started the brawl and why.
OMG.

You know, I never reneged on my bet that Sarah would pose nude. I did predict she would get a reality TV show after she and McCain lost the election…. I was flabbergasted when that prediction came true… SO I have an announcement:

I will alter this prediction: She may not purposefully pose nude. I believe she will be caught in a *HAYL YEA git sum* moment in the next two years.
