nterviewed on MSNBC after the president’s speech, Sanders cited the Bush/Cheney war in Iraq as reason to be cautious about military ventures.
The Washington Post said Sanders is among seven senators who were in the House in 2002 and voted against the Iraq war. “We were ‘strong’ and ‘tough’ under Bush and Cheney. We made the worst foreign policy blunder in the history of the United States. We don’t want to do that again,”

Hi all. I wore a suit today to honour my old friend (south tower survivor) but have nothing else planned. My father's generation had Pearl Harbor and war, but now these places are our allies. One wonders if the Middle East will ever go down that road.

Mornin' all..
Also on this day in American Imperialism, we helped overthrow Chile's democratically elected president and replace him with a murderous army general.

I know why. Israel. Not them specifically, but it comes down to this. Indigenous people have lived there for millenia. Out of nowhere, another group believes their God told them 'this is your promised land'. So they've been having this 'disagreement' for a while now. It's the old " my God is better than your God" argument that always seems to atract new converts, no matter what God it actually is. I almost think a new Isolationism might better serve our interests.

But Israelis are also indigenous to that area - same as Palestinians (who are also not liked in that area) Never understood why those 2 didn't team up and work together *sigh*

The rivalries are deep, and there are harms done by both sides. The Palestinians can point to the Nakba and the Occupation. Israelis can point to some of the actions of the Arabs, such as attacks on civilians. I have a friend whose father's family lived in Egypt for 200 years before being expelled -- as they are Jewish. Part of that family moved to Chicago, while other parts are in Israel and elsewhere.
There are people working for peace, but there are politicians and others who benefit from continuing conflicts.

You know what, I think it is high time to start calling these people extremists.

A friend of mine just linked me this article.
Whoever wrote and edited this needs to be severely disciplined. Subject matter is fine, but the way the article is written is horrid. Terrible reporting.
Quote by Raine:Oh hey, Somalia too. No one ever wants to talk about this either.
I have no apologies in saying that as much as I have hated military conflicts, I still believe Dems have always been on the right sight of this misery.
We are not there to fluff up the MIC. Obama is a Dem. Clinton was as well… Jimmy Carter was probably the most peaceful President we have ever had.

Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly, and it's something to hear when Sarah screams, "Don't you know who I am!"

WE WANT THUNDERDOME!!!!
“No, it’s what happens when the former First Family of Alaska comes knocking. As people were leaving in a cab, Track was seen on the street, shirtless, flipping people off, with Sarah right behind him, and Todd somewhere in the foreground, tending to his bloody nose,†she concluded.
It’s difficult to say how much of this is true, based as it is on what witnesses claim to have seen and heard.
In an update posted Thursday, Griffin said she spoke to homeowner Chris Olds, who confirmed that the melee took place in his residence and that he was repeatedly struck by Bristol Palin.
Anchorage Police confirmed to Griffin that at least 20 people were involved in the fight, but reports differ as to who started the brawl and why.
