Today We are preparing for a nor'Easter and then another storm and then possible Hurricane Joaquin. Gonna be wet and nasty for the next few days.

It's not quite the end times, but a little prayer never hurt:

I find it amazing that Joaquin is not trending on FB (as opposed to it was yesterday) now that it's a Category 3 hurricane soon to go to Category 4 and could be taking aim on the East coast. Still Fucking Trump at the top of the trending list.

A bit surprised and felt a growing pit in my stomach because this was supposed to only make category 2.

Too bad it couldn't direct all of its energy on the dickwads in Congress.

Just thankful its not snow. Hurricanes I can deal with, but that's not till Sunday at this point.

To be fair - it will hit Cat 4 before it begins its northward path, and lose a lot of strength quickly the further north it goes

okay a lot of those were a little but there were a handful that were okay. But maybe that's just me.

The tone certainly said "satire" to me

True, but from what I heard yesterday morning it wasn't supposed to get to Cat 3, let alone 4. Of course, as shown from the map of His Noodly Appendages yesterday, who knows.

Looks like Facebook's in the process of spitting up again.

Hi, everyone!

I hope that my friends on the East Coast do well with Hurricane Joaquin. I hope that it is not going to be the equal of Hurricane Sandy.

As for myself, I am off today, getting ready to mow. In some good news, I have found a few good local jobs to apply to in the hopes of moving into the vanishing middle class.

Don't think it has anything to do with being anti-same-sex marriage, looks more like she didn't want to deal with the idiots on Fox.

Plus its from 2011 so one would hope her views on terming things gender neutral have grown.

It's the Fox thing that bothers me. not doing something so benign in the bigger scope of things because she does;t want to deal with a fauxcrisy is weird.

This was kind of interesting - Was Pope Frank swindled into meeting Kimmeh?

I see what your saying but I can see that she's tired of being abused by Fox and it was a reflex - she flinched.

That seems entirely plausible.

I am not going to get myself too upset about this meeting with the pope.

What bothers me is how the Davis camp is using the meeting.

There is a certain amount of tinfoil there - but I think it's very likely he didn't request her, and probably didn't know who she was prior to meeting her.

I really hope that very last line of this article is supposed to be snark….
This post has been updated to more accurately reflect Meyers's clear point of view.

Afternoon all! Extra-long monthly meeting time is done at last!

"13. The modern man listens to Wu-Tang at least once a week." I guess I was ahead of the curve on this one.

As usual, I expect complaints about the gun industry but no action. I am not sure what, if anything, will cause the end of our gun violence epidemic.

Short of someone sane becoming head of the NRA, nothing.

As a person of faith, I am deeply offended by this image. First, God is not Santa Claus or Superman. People of faith are told to be righteous and address social skills.

Secondly, and more importantly, the cartoonist seems to be dancing on the graves of the dead to promote an issue. Also, may I ask whose God that the cartoonist wants in school? Probably not mine nor that of many people I know.

Thanks to Faux News and right-wing talk radio, the gun control debate has gone so far to the right:

Will, I hope you are aware that this was a meme going around FB a few weeks ago.

It's a RW meme that I find full of shit.

I find this RW meme to be worse than shit, because that substance at least can be used as fertilizer. This is perhaps more akin to toxic waste.

I have seen this before and I have to ask if the creator of the meme and those who distribute it have any idea how hurtful this is. I can only imagine what someone who lost someone to gun violence would feel about this image.

Comment by Will in Chicago on 10/02/2015 00:00:13
Oops, I should have wrote social ills, not social skills. Though I suspect that the later is lacking greatly in the people spreading this image.
