Flowery Friday

Thanks for a very wet winter out west (nope, no such thing as climate change), they are experiencing what is being called a Super Bloom in southern California and the desert areas. The last Super Bloom was in 2005, 2017 seems to be putting that one to shame. The pictures from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Diamond Lake, and Death Valley are just stunningly beautiful.

I've gathered a few pictures for us to enjoy and take a breather.

Oh yeah, and apparently Michael Flynn wants immunity to testify about Russia. Either that is just him covering his own ass or he's got a bomb to drop. Not sure which way I lean on that one. Time will tell.

Have a great weekend.

Good snowy morning......happy spring

I don't trust Flynn as far as I can throw him. Thing is, yeah, we can give him immunity (for which he'll give us nothing), but that won't protect him from Putin's revenge.

So, Bobber and Raine, you guys missing Atlanta today?

Mala, the downside to the super bloom: asshat wanting to see it and forgetting they are in a fracking desert! Not bringing enough water and getting dehydrated.

Part of me wants to call that "thinning the herd" but that would be mean

Mala, contrarty to what Buckaroo Banzai said, it is okay to be mean.

Morning, comrades.

TriSec has an intriguing job opportunity.

I was in Southie yesterday talking to these guys. (Washington DC wing, these are the guys that run the Arlington cemetery tour.)

Yep, it would be driving one of those big ol' touristy buses and expounding on the virtues of our fair city for the tourist trade.

Of course, it would be life-changing for me; I'm just a simple claims guy, trying to make my way in the universe.

I've done the math, and determined that there is potential to actually make more money than at Fallon. Base pay is well above minimum (more than I make at the store), and I talked to a couple of actual drivers during my visit (not the flowery promises of management or HR) and it's quite possible to make several hundred dollars a day on tips alone.

It's not a 100% go, but the hiring manager thought I would be good at this, and he wanted me to talk to the regional manager, who wasn't available yesterday.

The big deal for me is what amounts to a "signing bonus". It's not actual money in my pocket, but the company would take my first 6 weeks and train me for a Commercial Driver's License with Airbrake and Passenger endorsements, and absorb all the education and licensing fees - worth about $6,000 in these parts.

When I was out of work during the Great Recession, I very nearly went to driving school for just this purpose.

I wonder what happens with Flynn next. Either he has to offer a lot more, or he may find himself in even deeper trouble.

We will see. If I was him, I would hire a few bodyguards.

It is the last day of spring break for schools in my area. I am busy job hunting, finding a few things here and in the Boston area. (TriSec, I think I would have to take a tour as I only had a quick one when I took the tests for my teaching license.)

And as convenient coinciding with the Flynn news, there is another Wikileaks dump of CIA documents. I guess Russia needs that distraction again. I guess the news cycle would be too suspicious if Flynn met with an "accident".

Well, I have to give a friend in the Boston area a call on Sunday. The Jewish Community Day School in Watertown is hiring. (The friend in question may have a few connections.)

A humorous take on Flynn.

According to Hemlock, Clinton also would shout “Lock him up” in Russian as well as throw nesting dolls out on the front lawn. Ms. Clinton also reportedly dumped a box full of furry Russian hats on Flynn’s door step, rang the door bell and ran off laughing.

Woah.

Obama administration officials were so concerned about what would happen to key classified documents related to the Russia probe once President Trump took office that they created a list of document serial numbers to give to senior members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, a former Obama official told NBC News.

The official said that after the list of documents related to the probe into Russian interference in the U.S. election was created in early January, he hand-carried it to the committee members. The numbers themselves were not classified, said the official.

The purpose, said the official, was to make it "harder to bury" the information, "to share it with those on the Hill who could lawfully see the documents," and to make sure it could reside in an Intelligence committee safe, "not just at Langley [CIA hq]."

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
