This is mean.
Author: Raine    Date: 04/26/2017 13:06:51

You know what?

This is a mean administration.

I got up today wanting to write about whatever it is that is going on, and it's all just meanness.

So we are starting a trade war with Canada -- Canada -- over milk and wood. We lost a Trade battle with Mexico over tuna.
On Tuesday, the World Trade Organization ruled in Mexico's favor, allowing it to impose trade sanctions worth $163 million a year against the U.S. The WTO says that's how much money Mexico has lost from the U.S. unfairly penalizing Mexican tuna. (snip)

The Trump administration argues that the WTO ruling didn't take into account updated US laws on "dolphin safe" tuna, and that it overstated the actual financial loss to Mexican tuna producers, who the USTR accused of intentionally chasing and netting dolphins.

The timing, however coincidental, is sensitive. President Trump wants to renegotiate NAFTA, the free trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Trump's administration took its first steps to crack down on trade with Canada on Monday night when the Commerce Department announced a 20% tariff against Canadian softwood lumber. A war of words between Canadian and American leaders has followed.

A Federal Judge blocked the Administration's Executive Order on Sanctuary Cities.
San Francisco-based U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday barring federal officials nationwide from carrying out the portion of a Jan. 25 Trump executive order aimed at cutting off grants to local governments that won't provide assistance to federal authorities in locating and detaining undocumented immigrants.

Now he's going after National Parks.

We haven't even seen the new tax plan. I can tell you I trust nothing from this administration.

It's not just the incompetence and the lawlessness -- it mostly the meanness that bothers me inside my soul. It has no joy.

Still, I will persist and resist.

If I remember this and many other significant cuts to foreign aid were included in the budget blueprint. Trump's team doesn't just hate immigrants - they hate less fortunate people all over the globe by the millions. And for what? To enrich themselves.

Good morning, bloggers!!

Elizabeth Warren, in an interview with Ezra Klein, discusses the pervasive power of money in Washington
. I am seeing the Trump administration use government to promote Trump businesses. Perhaps this is the next step in us becoming the United Corporate States of America.

This is promising.
The former head of intelligence law at the National Security Agency (NSA), April Doss, has been hired to work on the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election, her law firm confirmed in a press release on Wednesday.

Doss, who spent over a decade at the NSA and now chairs the Cybersecurity and Privacy practice at Saul Ewing, LLP, will serve as the committee's special counsel as it examines " allegations that Russia participated in a disinformation campaign intended to benefit President Donald Trump, and claims of potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia," the firm said.

Doss will join the committee on May 1.

I shared a link a few days back that America is regressing to a third world nation for most people. Although Trump did not promise to do so, he may preside over the country becoming far less powerful, prosperous, and influential than we have seen in a long time.

This is good news. I think Trump will try to obstruct as much as Nixon did, so we need people with strong credentials to investigate the administration's Russian ties.

Elizabeth Warren & Bernie jumping into the VA Gov race on the Dems side and backing Perrillo.

I'm fine with Warren saying something because she's an actual Dem but I am done with Bernie.

Looking at her twitter feed, she's a good egg and a great person for the job.

Raine, I can imagine that in an alternate timeline, April Doss would be an important official in the administration of President Hillary Clinton.

This is vomit inducing.

This is really quite astounding. In this morning’s edition of Mike Allen’s not-Playbook from Axios he introduces what seems to be Ivanka Trump setting up something that sounds a lot like the Clinton Foundation, only in this case run from within the White House by a top presidential aide who is also the President’s daughter, who also runs her own large international company and who also has two brothers who are currently running the President/Father’s company and trying to rake in as much money as possible on the fame and power of the presidency. Also, let’s be honest, the Trumps are a notoriously corrupt family, especially when it comes to running foundations.

Has there been an administration more corrupt than this one? Has there been one that was more blatant and tone-deaf and unabashedly gorging at the trough than this one?

And at the same time, you have a whole bunch of mainstream journos dog-piling on Chelsea Clinton for NO FUCKING REASON WHATSOEVER. Some are claiming to do it because they want her to run for something, some claim it's because they think she IS going to run for something and don't want her to because EWWW SHES A CLINTON SHE MUST BE CORRUPT (as if her parents' sins are on her head too, which is fucking sickening), and some even claim it's because OMG SHES NEVER DONE ANYTHING IN HER LIFE! Like really? I can easily go find five major things Chelsea Clinton has done, on her own without her parents, to better the lives of ordinary people. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK HAS IVANKA TRUMP DONE TO BETTER ANYONE BUT HERSELF, HER FATHER, OR ANYONE RICH ENOUGH TO BUY HER SWEATSHOP RAGS?

A letter detailing this was sent to the State Department and was supposed to have been delivered by them to Congress. Congress has never seen the letter.
