Hell of a Reason to have a Flashback Friday

In May of 2012 I wrote this blog - A Rambling Thought on Firearms. Just yesterday I re-read and I have to say it still applies.

Now its five years later (5 years!) and what's been done........ a big, fat, nothing. NOTHING.

The only thing that's happened is the mass shootings have increased and gotten worse. We had Aurora, CO at a movie theater. NEWTOWN, CT with the deep heartbreak of Sandy Hook. Honestly, I had really hoped that people would have come to their senses and done something about getting control of this epidemic of guns in America after 1st graders were murdered. But NOTHING.

We had the DC Navy Yard, Charleston, San Bernadino, Orlando and now Vegas. Its all heartbreaking. All those lives lost and still NOTHING is done.

The majority of American's want some version of gun control but the NRA has so much of its blood money in Congress they do nothing. Would they would do something if we could get the corporate money out of politics? I don't know. I want to be hopeful and say yes but I really don't know. What if Wayne LaPierre wasn't the head of the NRA, would things change and revert back to what they used to be, focused on hunting and sportsman? Again I want to be hopeful, but I just don't know anymore.

I saw a tweet thread this morning that said John Kelly had submitted his resignation on Weds, effective today. Haven't been able to confirm it at all yet tho.

He's probably the last person I want to see resign. He's the throttle on this administration's madness now.

Thanks for reminding me about it. Really am just stunned that so much nothing has changed in 5 years. We are in the exact same place and its shameful.

That absoutely cannot stand.

I think Kelly has at least done one thing that deserves a lot of credit - he's been able to put some kind of functional order back in the White House. It doesn't keep things from going off the rails, but at the very least the staff can feel some normalcy. I think he's also giving a crash course in conducting himself properly as President, but we already know that ain't working at all.
