This is all I've got today. Why does every week have to be so hard?

Mornin' all..

I took a moment yesterday to think about the #metoo campaign going around & it got me remembering something that happened to my mother. That flashback of thoughts turned into a Twitter thread.

Hey Mala, how about that Red Mage cosplay from Rep. Wilson?

Comment by Raine on 10/20/2017 16:02:01
John Kelly flat out lied about Representative Wilson. <--- transcript of what she said at the dedication ceremony in Florida.

I hate to sound shallow about Rep. Wilson. I've been trying to remember her then I saw the hat. The light bulb switched on!

I don't think that's shallow, that's her signature hat.

Who saw Lawrence O'Donnell rip into John Kelly last night? He went after him hard and showed what a phony he is.

That's it. I guess we can dispel the myth that Kelly is one of the "grown-ups". He's just not as stupid as the rest.

Was just reading a post on DU about Tom Perez & the DNC shuffling some long-time senior committee members out in favor or new faces. And the bitching & whining about Perez supposedly forcing out those who supported Bernie's campaign or Keith Ellison for chairman is abundant.

These are the SAME DAMN PEOPLE who have been bitching NONSTOP FOR YEARS about how the DNC needs new blood and that all the senior execs of the DNC should be ditched.

All five living former presidents have come together to help Puerto Rico (because the sitting president was too busy not giving a shit)

Uhhh.. why the HELL would they want to cap individual retirement fund contributions?!

This goes against the whole pull-yourelf-up-by-your-own-bootstraps mantra that the GOP has been preaching since... erm... FORFUCKINGEVER!

Since it was always an effort to hide that the entire GOP agenda is to make the rich richer and have everyone else pay for it.

I keep reading... $2,400?!?!

you know what the sad part about this is?

Too many people can't even make that cap! That means you can;t put more than 300 bucks a month in.

So what this is -- IMO -- is a way to target the middle class knowing that poverty class (lower ) will just shrug this off.

It's division.

Huh? What? There is a cap already. You can't contribute more than $5,500 annually to either a traditional IRA or a Roth IRA. If I recall from working at Merrill, the total contribution to an IRA is $2500 and with the Roth, up to 3 grand. So do they mean capping both at $2400 or $2400 for each? Color me slightly confused.

I'm not even sure myself. I'm not that versed in retirement accounts (don't have one, unless you count the family estate & trust)

I do know this - retirement accounts can be tax-free investments, and if there's a cap on the money you can put in then that means you'll have more money that can be taxed. The super rich ppl don't usually use retirement accounts - they use overseas tax shelters & stocks & shit. The poor don't have money to put away in most cases. So this almost exclusively hits and hurts the middle class.

Errrrrr........What the fucking hell are they trying to do now?

For reference, Title 10 Section 688 & Section 690

Looks like they're getting ready to recall non-active & retired military to active service.

The article isn't very clear at all.

As far as IRAs go, rich folks sure as shit do use them. Remember, when you can sock away 5 and a half grand that isn't taxed. When I was with Merrill, I don't know how many rich people I talked to who had shit tons of cash stashed in traditional and Roth IRAs. Granted the ultra rich use all the other vehicles you mentioned. Despite that, A LOT of those overseas investments are rather dodgy or are illegal AF.
