RNC - aka: LieFest 2020
Author: BobR    Date: 08/26/2020 12:37:54

So now we have 2 nights of this year's RNC in the rear-view window. Unlike the DNC's well-crafted mix of live and prerecorded speeches and video pieces, the RNC has been a parade of the usual suspects trying to sell fear and loathing. The first night was "high"lighted by Kimberly Guilfoyle screaming like a coked-up mob wife being arrested for the umpteenth time. DTJr looked stoned and possibly coked-up too. Not surprisingly, there were quite a few "untruths" spewed, which you know tRump's cult members soaked up as gospel, such as:
"President Trump brought our economy back before, and he will bring it back again.”: When in 2018, Trump proclaimed, twice in the same day, “an economic turnaround of historic proportions,” the United States had been adding jobs for 94 straight months, of which 18 were under Trump’s leadership.

"“Obama and Biden let North Korea threaten America. President Trump rejected that weakness, and we passed the toughest sanctions on North Korea in history.”

“Obama and Biden let Iran get away with murder and literally sent them a plane full of cash. President Trump did the right thing and ripped up the Iran nuclear deal.”

“Democrats claim to be for workers, but they’ve spent the entire pandemic trying to sneak a tax break for millionaires in Democrat states into the covid relief bill. Then they attacked my father for suspending the payroll tax for middle-class workers.”

“President Trump recognized the threat this virus presented for all Americans early on and made rapid policy changes. And as a result, telehealth services are now accessible to more than 71 million Americans, including 35 million children.”

There are more at the link, if you care to wallow in it.

The second night wasn't much better:
“Biden has pledged to defund the police.”

“Promises made, and promises, for the first time, were kept.” - on Oct. 22, 2016, Trump issued what he called his “Contract with the American Voter.” This was a specific plan of action that would guide his administration, starting from the first day, and listed 60 promises. He even signed it with his distinctive signature. The Fact Checker has tracked these pledges. As of July 21, Trump has kept 21, broken 26 and compromised on seven.

“I [Larry Kudlow] helped the team craft Donald Trump’s economic plan. During the campaign, it was a roaring success, inheriting a stagnant economy on the front end of recession.”

“On the world stage, President Trump became the first president to talk about the importance of religious freedom at the United Nations, giving hope to people of faith around the world.”

Again - more swill at the link...

One thing that Raine noted in her blog on Monday was that there is no RNC platform this year - it's essentially "whatever tRump wants". Perhaps it's because at least five of his major campaign promises from 2016, remain unfulfilled, and left in the dust:
Mexico paying for the southwest-border wall.
Repealing Obamacare.
Paying down the federal debt.
Four percent economic growth.
Releasing his tax returns.

Oops.

With a record like that, he (or his handlers) have decided not to go on record with any more promises (yet). There's still plenty of time between now and Nov for him to pull more nonsense out of his ass and wave it around for the adoring masses. He's a professional liar, and anyone who can be swayed needs to have the truth put before them, to counter-act the marketing madness that is the tRump campaign.

I am constantly astounded that they actually are true believers. The GOP has succumbed to the tRump cult.

Also -- be good morning.
