A stroll through the garden

What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

RNC may as well stand for "Radical Nazi Committee" these days. (Yes, I know it's an oxymoron.) It would be nice to have a quiet refuge to retreat to and ponder what days have passed, and what the future might bring.

Except that place was raped and destroyed, as Nazis do. I've seen cemeteries with more soul than what passes for a White House Rose Garden these days. Let us look at some other award-winning gardens instead.

Kelleher Rose Garden, Back Bay Fens:

Rockefeller Rose Garden, New York City:

And one from the West Coast, Balboa Park, San Diego:

It's such a simple thing, but like all else the Trumps touch, it's turned to shit.

I told Bob Kincaid on the Head On Radio Network this week that the decor of the McClosky house (the people who threatened to shoot peaceful protesters in St. Louis) reminded me of a line from a Robert Park Spenser novel:

"The office of the university president looked like the parlor of a successful Victorian brothel."

I fear that the same level of design went into the new White House garden.

I have found a love for growing roses. They are unique among plants to me.
