This Is Not Normal.
Author: Raine    Date: 11/10/2016 13:56:54

It should never be normal.

The world is horrified.

‘Demagogic Degeneracy’
Editorial in the Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo

‘Disgust Has Become the Principal Engine’
Editorial in the Reforma newspaper, Mexico

‘A Moment of Great Peril’
Editorial in The Financial Times of Britain

‘Europe Is Not Protected’
Editorial in the French newspaper Le Monde

‘Bad for India Because He Is Bad for His Own Country’
Bobby Ghosh, editor in chief, in The Hindustan Times of India

‘The Nightmare Has Come True’

There are more headlines and summaries at the link.

This is not normal.

Sexual abuse survivors are horrified.

This is not normal.

Children are scared.

This is not normal.

Our LGBTQ brothers and sisters are horrified. Muslims are horrified. Minorities are horrified.

It's one thing to deeply disagree on another party's policy, but this person who will be sitting in the Oval office is simply not a good man. He has hurt people, he has destroyed business and left a path of destruction in his wake. It's not sour grapes, it simply isn't normal and I find myself resenting people who are trying to normalize what has happened.

I don't want to be told that we should unite behind a person who has shown nothing but contempt for anything and anyone who didn't support him.

And aside from my facebook screed, That is all I can write about today.

As always,

and

Raine

Morning.

I changed my password because I believe it was the same one i used at DU.

I was thinking this morning about all the things women/girls will loose:
Military service
equal pay (of course)
reproductive rights
the end of Planned Parenthood
Paying more for insurance
encouraged to not get an education.

...........
On Jan. 19 I am not spending ANY fucking money unless I have to. Fuck that guy. I hope the economy goes into the tank; I know people will be hurt, but as in the words of someone in some Ann Hathaway movie, "Gird your loins"

exactly. It's possible that will happen again, with Pence pulling the strings. I just don't know if he has the Machiavellian skills to do so. He'll need to appeal to tRump's ego

I, Mondo have some predictions about the Trump presidency:

1. It will be the most corrupt since U.S. Grant's. Despite all the rhetoric about draining the swamp etc. The Executive branch is going to be plagued by scandal after scandal since it will be run by incompetents.
2. Trump will have the lowest approval ratings of any president coming into office.

Mondo, I will be glad to sign. I think that the Electoral College has outlived its usefulness. This is the second election in my lifetime where a candidate who lost the popular vote has become president.

I hope that everyone is feeling better. I am hoping on catching a few breaks in the job search. (I got a very nice rejection letter, but will keep that place in mind if they have openings.)

I've seen that -- and I have to be honest as tempting that is, it seems like it would cause more problems than we already have with the bigots racists and alt-right.

It would be them doing the constitutionally mandated job. The reasoning of the Founders has been top of my mind for most of the year since I've been reading Chernow's bios of Washington and Hamilton. Yeah, that book To couch this in the language of Trump supporters, it would be restoring constitutional government. The electors are there to prevent a demagogue winning. You know how they prattle on about how the Founding Fathers hated democracy and the US is a constitutional republic.

Raine, we are likely to have problems with the bigots, racists and the alt-right. I think it is time to get rid of the Electoral College.

I am also looking forward to an analysis of what happened in the election. It is time to rebuild the Democratic Party and find a way to reach out to more voters.

So, my former manager had this to say on Facebook:

I see and hear a lot of Republicans who voted for Trump being outraged that they are being lumped in with racists and homophobes. I get it. Not everyone who voted for him is and it is stupid to believe so. At the same time, I wonder if that is how Muslims feel when the new President and your party demonizes them all as terrorists? Or how Mexicans feel when the new President and your party demonizes them all as nothing but rapists and drug dealers? Or how black people feel when the new President and your party demonizes them all as thugs and cop killers? Or how women feel when the new President and your party tells them they are not allowed to be in control of their own body and are not worth as much as men and should be punished for getting an abortion? Or how the LGBTQ community feels when the new President and your party labels them all as broken and abominations? Doesn't feel good to be labeled something you are not.
I also see a lot of Republicans who voted for Trump being confused as to why minorities are upset and are calling the protests that are happening a case of sour grapes or people being sore losers (These are all white people, by the way, in case that wasn't already abundantly obvious). The issue isn't that Democrats lost and Republicans won. The issue isn't even that Hillary lost. The issue is that Trump won. Had it been any other Republican candidate that won, I strongly believe that these protests would not be happening. See my comments above. This is a candidate from a major party that not only ran on a platform of hate that enforced these stereotypes, but actually won. This morning on my way to work I drove past a car that had "N*ggers go back to Africa" written on it, flying a Confederate flag with a Trump/Pence sticker. So, while you may not be a racist, the new President is, as is a portion of his base(he was endorsed by the KKK for Christ-sakes) and a portion of the party he represents. These people have been emboldened. His election has made them feel righteous. It has brought bigotry to the mainstream and specifically told anyone who is not straight and white that they don't count and that you can do and say anything you want to them without repercussion, because hey, Trump has. You, the non-racist who voted for Trump, turned a blind eye towards all this. It wasn't secretive. It was out in the open and you decided that not only is it acceptable to you, but it should be rewarded with the Presidency. Why? "Well, I just don't like Hillary". That is why people are scared. That is why people are upset and it is justified and don't you dare think otherwise.
I literally can't make it any clearer. If this post makes you angry, good. It should. I hope to God it makes you angry for the right reason.

That is why people are upset and it is justified and don't you dare think otherwise.
I literally can't make it any clearer. If this post makes you angry, good. It should. I hope to God it makes you angry for the right reason.
This is the world we live in now, and I, for one, will not stop fighting. I will not sit idly by. I will do everything in my power to ensure that the rights and dignity of ANY AND ALL of this nations citizens are protected.
I hope this is a public post, becuase this deserves to be viral.

It's that powerful.

His privacy setting are only so friends can see it. I asked him if I could copy it with his name withheld. it is up on my FB wall.

would it be ok if I shared it from there?

TriSec does not regret his faith choices.

TriSec regrets staying in the closet for at least four more years.

I love it. A little Trumpette erased comments by myself and Adam Hebert regarding a post of hers telling the protesters to "grow up" because she didn't like the truth.

Grow up, indeed little Trumpette.

I am trying to keep my head from exploding these days and I haven't even left the house since the election. But, I do have to go out and do some shopping today since I have to get groceries and kitty litter.

Liv, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! Take a walk, do something. I spent most of the day yesterday brooding and it was the worst. When a friend asked me over for pizza and movies, I jumped at the chance.

You can't stay inside, Liv.

On a really bright side, I had a great conversation with our state delegate.

I pm'd him to see how he was doing.

It was a real convo, It helped.

I took a friend's beagle for a half hour walk yesterday. Today, I took a half hour by myself. It has helped me physically, emotionally, and mentally.
