A strange place to be
Author: TriSec    Date: 02/26/2022 11:11:31

Good Morning.

I love Mother Russia. Her art, music, literature, the amazing landscapes throughout the steppes, and her deep history, especially in defeating fascism.

Stumped
Author: wickedpam    Date: 02/25/2022 14:10:41

I'm at a lose today for content. Sure there are thousands of cute animal picture on the internet. And there's always something whimsical, unique, and odd to be discovered. But today, with all that's going on in the world, it feels too frivolous to do any of that.

So today can we all just send up prayers, good thought, positive vibes, whatever your jam is, to the people of the Ukraine.

Now, Gravity is not a Theory
Author: Raine    Date: 02/24/2022 14:02:11

Ukraine being attacked is a grave situation, not just for the country and not just for NATO. The situation is far more dire. When people speak of a New World Order, they aren't talking about books written by the likes of Aldous Huxley or George Orwell. They are speaking of very potentially real-life events spiraling from the attack on Ukraine.

Hump Day Not-so-stubbie!
Author: Scoopster    Date: 02/23/2022 15:39:58

Not sure if anyone else was planning to post today. I know Bob & Raine are up in NY tho.

In case y'all missed my post about it over on that other platform, on Monday night a non-profit indie library/reading room was the target of a Nazi harassment gang. The patrons that night were at a celebratory reading and discussion on the anniversary of the publication of Marx's Communist Manifesto. Most of those attending were black, which the unwelcome thugs made everyone in the neighborhood know with their hateful shouting. They even prevented the patrons from leaving, as the only door to the library was blocked from the outside. It took neighbors calling the police for them to leave (no one in the library did it, probably because they wisely don't trust PVD cops) and even then it took multiple units to show up before they moved on.

Don't Look Up
Author: TriSec    Date: 02/19/2022 10:56:05

Good Morning.

Did you see this one? I think it's a brilliant little gem of a movie. Being filmed in Boston helps, of course. (Yes, we watched them working on this a while ago throughout the city.) In any case - there's been a mixed bag of reviews, and I have a pet theory.

Making Clean Energy Cleaner
Author: BobR    Date: 02/17/2022 12:28:23

Almost exactly 12 years ago, I wrote a blog about alternative solutions for generating electricity - both for homes and automobiles. This included options for electric cars. One of those involved research being done by a company called "EEStor". Their approach was to create a "super-capacitor" for storing electricity. Capacitors have some advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. They can be charged (and discharged) very quickly, which would make them an ideal power source in cars. They also would greatly reduce the need for lithium, which is getting scarcer and is dirty to mine.
