Is it just me or has all cute, fluffy posts on Facebook dried up lately? They seem to be replaced with what passes for inspirational sayings and articles mixed in with this fiasco of an administration tRump Dumpster fire posts. Facebook used to be a somewhat enjoyable place, now it just seems like another place to argue with the crazy.

Reason #1 Billion to hate tRump, his evil face ate all the cute!

The tRump Dump: Congressional Address Edition
Author: BobR    Date: 03/01/2017 14:49:06

Last night was pResident tRump's first address to a joint meeting of Congress (generally known as the State of the Union address after the president's 1st year in office). As a disclaimer, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it, so all commentary is based on the transcript. From what I've read, there were no outbursts of "Liar!" from the Dems, so kudos to them for maintaining decorum while lie after lie washed over them.

NPR has provided an annotated transcript of the address, so all quotes will be drawn from that. I cannot say with any certainty that this is exactly what he said, because we all know how he tends to go off script.

He started off condemning the attacks on Jewish sites (Bannon must not have approved this part). He spent all of 1 minute on it before moving on to describe a new pride in America. He didn't say "white pride", but that was the dog whistle.

Good Morning.

It's been a very long time since we examined our military spending habits here at AAV.

So we'll dive right in, and we find this morning's Cost of War passing through:

$ 820, 272, 546, 000 .00

Over the weekend Politico published this story: Sean Spicer targets own staff in leak crackdown
Upon entering Spicer’s office for what one person briefed on the gathering described as “an emergency meeting,” staffers were told to dump their phones on a table for a “phone check," to prove they had nothing to hide.

Spicer, who consulted with White House counsel Don McGahn before calling the meeting, was accompanied by White House lawyers in the room, according to multiple sources.

There, he explicitly warned staffers that using texting apps like Confide — an encrypted and screenshot-protected messaging app that automatically deletes texts after they are sent — and Signal, another encrypted messaging system, was a violation of the Presidential Records Act, according to multiple sources in the room.

Good Morning.

It's been 70 degrees around here for the last few days. I was working yesterday, but I got to spend a delightful day in downtown Boston Thursday with the Scouts.

pResident tRump's ties to Russia have sparked a lot of speculation, investigation by Congress, and an order not to delete records. The intelligence community (which has been on-again/off-again with the tRump "Administration") and the FBI are also investigating the various connections, conversations, interactions, and intrusions with and by various Russian entities. Russia (or maybe even the CIA), for its part, seems to be covering its tracks.

Good Morning.

We'll dive right in - I've got two things that are connected that you might think shouldn't be. I personally have a friend that has been addicted to opioid pills for about 20 years now. He seems to be in a clean phase these days, but knowing his pattern, it's only a matter of time before there is another relapse.

These pills need to come from someplace - most addicts have many creative and illegal ways of obtaining these things. My friend is quite adept at doctor-shopping, and he's always under the care of somebody new whenever a relapse occurs.

But for others, there's an easier way - you could just steal drugs from a V.A. hospital.
