Although I hate to repeat myself, I just want to remind everyone of the 1st Rule of the Internet - DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS SECTION. It's heartbreaking and makes you angry and depressed. This has been a bad week to break that rule.

How Did We Get Here? Where Do We Go Now?
Author: Raine    Date: 11/19/2015 14:01:44

This five minute video explains it all very succinctly, there are no good guys in this story.

There are, however many innocent victims. They are the people begging to leave their country to survive.

The Myths of the Syrian Refugees
Author: BobR    Date: 2015-11-18 11:55:09

The horrific terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday have triggered a lot of reactions across the planet. In Paris, the reactions have been reminiscent of how New Yorkers reacted after 9/11: "screw them - we are going to get back to normal". And - like after 9/11 - the reactions elsewhere range from panic to insane revenge fantasies. Worst of all is the xenophobic anti-Muslim anti-refugee attitude of too many of my fellow Americans.

Before the smoke had even cleared, there were immediate declarations that the attackers must have come with the hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria. That has proven to be not true thus far. All of the those involved who have been positively identified were French or Belgian nationals. There was a Syrian passport found at one site, but those investigating this believe it was stolen or fake.

Good Morning.

Despite the temptation to do so, we're not starting the day in Paris. Instead, let's borrow a line from the good Dr. Maddow. "Now you have to go to prison."

Hashtag Dem Debate
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 11/15/2015 15:23:13

Well, I was all set to write about the Democratic debate that was held in Iowa last night, but then nothing happened. I sat down with a kettle of popcorn ready to watch and take notes on the fighting. But all they did was debate! About real issues no less! What a disappointment.

Thou Shall Not
Author: TriSec    Date: 11/14/2015 13:17:59

Good Morning.

There is the tiniest portion of me that sees the grim irony in many of my right-wing friends posting Le Tricolor and pithy statements like "WE STAND WITH FRANCE" on their facebook feeds. It wasn't that long ago that they were cheese-eating surrender monkeys. I guess terrorism in the name of Islam changes everything after all.

But I digress.

Well, today is Chris Lavoie's last day in the business of radio. His last day as Stephanie Miller's trusted executive producer, co-host, keeper of her box and minder. He's been the gorilla glue that keeps it all together and works so hard to make it look easy - we know its not.

Rethinking Veterans Day
Author: BobR    Date: 11/11/2015 11:58:24

As we celebrate the service our military veterans, we should think for a moment just how they gained that title. They were either drafted into service (Viet Nam war and earlier), or they signed up of their own volition. They become "GI" (Government Issue), which means the government in general (and the military in particular) "owns" them and their bodies for use in protecting our country.

That doesn't mean they stop being people. They do not stop being someone's sons or daughters, someone's spouse, nor someone's mother or father. We as a country owe them a sacred oath to not take their service lightly, nor to toss them into harm's way when it isn't really necessary.
