The Bailers (Losers)

Wow, what a night. The man who promises to #MAGA is fighting for his political life thanks to crooked Hillary. Somehow she went back in time (does the DNC have a time machine?) and convinced Billy Bush (of the famous Bush family) to make Donald say things about women. Horrible things. Things that are tantamount to sexual assault!

What has changed?

Good Morning.

In just about two hours, I'll be joining the masses heading for Artesani Park in nearby Brighton, MA for a camporee. Perhaps 7,000 other Scouts and Scouters from across the Northeast will be joining us for SOAR. If you're near Boston, you can too - it's open to the general public in a highly visible stretch of the Charles River Bikeway near Harvard Stadium.

Not Civil, Not Right.
Author: Raine    Date: 10/06/2016 13:21:55

Last month, the Trump campaigned was denied a request to hold an event at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro.
The museum is in the former F.W. Woolworth building, the site of the 1960 lunch counter sit-in protest against segregated eating establishments. The facility seeks to commemorate the historic sit-in and to promote equality today.

Swaine said museum staff who spoke to a representative from Trump’s team said he did not request a tour of the museum and seemed instead to want only a photo-op for the nominee. Swaine said that months are spent training the museum’s tour guides, and that the museum does not allow “un-vetted” presenters to act as guides.

He said that since news of the museum’s decision broke last week, museum staff members have received threats via phone calls and social media.

“The callers were threatening to come over and burn down the building and to shoot up the building,” he said. “They’ve lessened in frequency this week, but they’re still coming in.”

Swaine said callers have used foul language and racial epithets, and he said museum employees are now recording the calls. But he also noted that he is appreciative of support that has come via social media and in calls from across the nation.

Who won??

If you were one of the many "lucky" people watching the veep debate last night, you may be suffering some cognitive dissonance when listening to the pundits' analysis of said event. There seems to be favoring of style over substance, and even that doesn't really hold enough water to float the punditry's descriptions. There's also the question of what the goals were for the two candidates and their respective presidential campaigns.

Full disclosure: I watched the debates on C-SPAN, and then suffered through 20 minutes of MSNBC saying how Mike Pence looked more "stolid" and Tim Kaine looked "over-caffeinated". Sure Kaine was a little "interrupty" at first, but when chided, he responded to the moderator "I thought this was a discussion". Once corrected, his interruptions went way down. Pence, on the other hand, used physical - rather than verbal - responses when Kaine was talking, constantly shaking his head, looking pained, amused, incredulous, and all if it looked very "affected" to me.

Good Morning.

We'll delve into the world of finance today. We're all aware of the recent cratering of the once-vaunted Wells Fargo bank. Among the mountain of scandal and deceit, there's also some soldiers caught up in the mess.

It's called

There is liquid water falling out of the sky around these parts - is it supposed to do that?

We tend to associate droughts with farm country, or places like Africa or Southeast Asia. New England is in the midst of a wing-dinger; accordding to our local news guys, this is the worst it's been since the 8-year-long drought of the 1960s, and the worst since the new Drought Monitor came online (albeit a mere 16 years ago in 2000)

Part of it is due to our remarkably mild and dry winter last year - we only had two significant snowfalls, totaling less than two feet of the white stuff for the entire season. (Compared to the winter previous, where we had lingering snowpiles into July).

I've always been fond of the statement, "No snow in January means no water in August". Unfortunately, TriSec has been proven correct again.
